Port
of Entry does a terrific job of setting the tone for your
visit to Islands of Adventure. Themed to reflect
the crossroads of a Port town, here you will find some
interesting and intriguing shops, as well as some of the
best theming detail in the park.
The stores here are
decidedly unique. Of course you have the standard
'theme park souvenir stores' that do a good job of pushing
all the t-shirts (watch what they do if you walk in with
a Mickey Mouse shirt on). Particularly interesting
to me was the Island Market and Export shop, which featured
very unique gourmet foods. Many items here would
make wonderful gifts (especially for Fan Club or Annual
Passholders who get 10% off on merchandise).
The Croissant Moon Bakery has fantastic
pastries. Coffee at the Croissant Moon is now provided
by Barnies, and we're happy to say that this gives IoA
the best cup of theme park coffee in Orlando. This
is a great place to grab a coffee and a danish first thing
in the morning.

breakfast at Confscio’s Grill
by Webmaster Barry
Many people find it easier to eat breakfast before
coming to Islands of Adventure. Orlando has an abundance
of breakfast buffets and restaurants to fill up on
eggs and pancakes. However, if you can hold your appetite
until you come to the park, you will find a breakfast
that is sure to give you a good time and an incredible
vacation memory.
Confscio’s Grill in the Port of Entry serves
a character breakfast buffet. The buffet is only served
on the weekends from park opening to 10:30 am (seating
stops at this time). The cost is $15.95 for adults
(lesser charge for kids). The breakfast has eggs,
sausage, bacon, French toast, pastries, and fruit.
Surprisingly, the buffet has no pancakes. The food
is pretty tasty, though.
The onsite resort hotels have a better breakfast
buffet spread at around the same price and quality,
but what distinguishes Confscio’s Grill’s
buffet is the character interaction. Dr. Seuss characters
are the only ones who wander around the restaurant.
You can see the Cat in the Hat, the Grinch, and Thing
1 and Thing 2. The characters interact with you that
will keep you laughing. Sometimes you can barely eat
because you are laughing so hard. The Grinch pretends
he is eating your food, the Cat in the Hat tries to
steal your food and asks for a tip, and Thing 1 and
Thing 2 examines every personal belonging of your
friends and family.
Remember to bring you video camera if you attend
the character breakfast at Confscio’s Grill.
You will want to watch the video over and over again
with your friends and family.
