The Lost Continent refers to three specific "legends".  The first was the legend of Atlantis, the second the legend of Sinbad, and the third, the legend of Merlin.  In essence, the lost continent is three themed lands rolled into one.  It also represents the finest, most detailed theming that I have ever seen.  This should do more than just win the hearts of visitors, it should win awards.  Creativity blended with temperance and a slight dramatic flare give this land a unique and special quality.

The Lost Continent Attractions:

Poseidon's Fury! Escape from the Lost City Universal Express
A Global Discovery Group's exploration of Poseidon's ruins. There, you're engaged in a battle between Poseidon and Lord Darkenon. Lord Darkenon has nothing to do with mythology. He's sort of an amour-wearing evildoer with bad Darth Maul make-up. I'm not sure if it's still a must-see.

Dueling Dragons Universal Express
Height Requirement:  54 inches tall
This is the most anticipated, and frightening of IOA's attractions.  Dueling Dragons is an inverted (meaning that the track is ABOVE you, rather than below you) roller coaster with two trains.  When loaded, each train is weighed before they are launched, and timed accordingly.  This is to ensure that they will pass within 12 inches of each other at certain points in the ride.

This ride wins and loses points for it's queuing area.   The queuing area is incredible (most if it takes place inside a castle that is among the best theming I've ever seen), the down side is that the line can reach 1 MILE LONG!!!!  Worst case scenario you should expect to wait up to 3 hours to ride this attraction.

TIP:  On the ground in front of the entrance to Dueling Dragons, you will find a circle with a star map within.  By standing on the circle, and looking forward, you can see each of the Dragons 3 "near misses" perfectly.

TIP:  The theming for this ride was directly supervised by Steven Spielberg.  You might want to join your party on the line just to see the magnificent castle that houses most of the queue.  You will be able to bypass the ride at the end of the line.

There are restrictions for guests that may be overweight.  Each set of cars contains one spot with a double seat belt.  In order to ride, you must fit comfortably within the harness.

Eighth Voyage of Sinbad Universal Express
A stunt show loosely based on the adventures of Sinbad.   There is a small 'lake' separating the stage, and while the set is quite spectacular, the show itself is fairly tame, but a good respite from the sun.

Pitch and Skill Games
An area of skill games (similar to Amity Island at Universal, just not as big).  While the games may be familiar, they are themed to fit in with Lost Continent.  For example, rather than trying to catapult frogs into lily pads, you try to catapult rats into cast iron cauldrons.  Rather than trying to toss a ring onto the top of a soda bottle, you try and toss rings onto the handle of bejeweled swords, etc.

The Flying Unicorn Universal Express
Height requirement: 36 inches
The Flying Unicorn is tucked away in a corner of the Lost Continent near Dueling Dragons. It is a roller coaster designed for the younger guests. It swoops and spirals you down and around Merlin's forest. The ride time is about a minute. Younger kids tend to enjoy this ride since they generally aren't tall enough to ride the big boys Dueling Dragons and the Incredible Hulk Coaster. Watch out for the end brakes on this coaster -- they are hard! They toss you forward and throw you back!

The Mystic Fountain
Make a wish at this magical fountain in Sinbad’s Village. This fountain will talk to you tell you jokes and will even harass you and your kids. Just beware you might get wet if you ask for the wrong thing.
